George Henery and E.A. Hornel's The Druids. 1000 pieces. Finished size: 25" square.

Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, Pomegranate's interlocking jigsaw puzzles One of the Glasgow Boys, a group of young painters who revolutionized Scottish art in the nineteenth century, Edward Atkinson Hornel (Scottish, b. Australia, 1864–1933) studied art in Edinburgh and Antwerp as a young man. His early work—including many landscapes with figures—shows the influence of Belgian traditions. But beginning in 1885, a close friendship with another member of the group, George Henry (Scottish, 1858–1943), led him toward more decorative work and symbolism. In 1890 the two collaborated on The Druids—Bringing in the Mistletoe, a richly textured and ornamented winter scene depicting an ancient Celtic ceremony.

Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, Pomegranate's 1000 - Piece interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and heirloom - quality construction to delight generations of puzzle solvers.

I haven't begun the puzzle yet - I've been traveling. But the cover is beautiful and intriguing, and I look forward to beginning. Sorry, but I usually don't tackle a puzzle until a month or two after purchasing it. LH
