Valley of the Yosemite, 1864 by Albert Bierstadt (American, b. Germany, 1830–1902). Published with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Finished size 29" x 20". Released 2010.
Albert Bierstadt studied art in D'sseldorf before returning to America and becoming associated with the Hudson River School of painters. On several journeys into the expanding American West, Bierstadt combined to stunning effect the landscape skills he’d honed in Germany with the detail and luminism he perfected during his New York years. He succeeded like no other painter of the time at conveying the vast and majestic landscapes of the West, faithfully reproducing the awe of the original vistas.
Bierstadt’s Valley of the Yosemite, painted a year after his 1863 visit, is a testament to both the grandeur of nature and the skill of the artist.

Well made puzzle; matte finish and well cut, interlocking pieces. Lovely scene to watch come together, took about 3 days to finish.

Good quality pieces, interesting variety of shapes, and nicely done box and packing. The picture itself really starts coming alive as the puzzle is completed. We enjoyed seeing the details of Bierstadt's brush-strokes. There are few hard and identifiable lines or color changes, so you have to pay more attention to color nuances, which makes for a challenging but satisfying puzzle experience. Highly recommended.
