The jaguar (Panthera onca) is the largest cat in the Americas. Its muscular, compact frame is built for strength and stealth rather than extended pursuit. The jaguars in this diorama are seeking prey at dusk, as is typical for large predators. Poised on the eastern rim of a box canyon, a male jaguar studies a livestock corral in the shrubland below. Chiefly known as tropical rain forest animals, jaguars also tolerate drier warm climates. In this scene, near Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, at the fringe of their modern range, jaguars live sparsely, limited by what water and prey they can find.
The habitat dioramas are among the greatest treasures of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, depicting a precise moment in time—a specific location, complete with its indigenous flora and wildlife. The Museum is one of the world’s preeminent scientific, educational, and cultural institutions, drawing millions of visitors each year. Visit amnh.org for more information.

This puzzle maker makes very good quality puzzles. Pieces fit together nicely, conventionally shaped so you know if the piece is right or not. Challenging however enough color diversity to make assembling the puzzle not too hard when broken into sections. Very impressive when fully assembled.
I really enjoyed building this puzzle. I ended up doing this in sections, starting with the jaguars, then the top third, center third, and bottom. It took longer than many 1000 piece puzzles I assemble but the challenge was worth it.
This was the first puzzle of eleven recently received puzzles that I have put together. I will review the others as I get them completed. This is a beautiful puzzle, one that I am eager to frame and show off. The rocks in the foreground were a bit more challenging than I expected and it was somewhat easy to interchange pieces and get them in the wrong spot, hence the "advanced" rating. I love the wildlife puzzles. - keep them coming!
