Norman Rockwell - The Connoisseur (The Saturday Evening Post) Contemporary & Modern Art Jigsaw Puzzle

The Connoisseur, 1962, cover for The Saturday Evening Post, January 13, 1962 by Norman Rockwell (American, 1894–1978). An extraordinarily gifted and beloved illustrator, Norman Rockwell began his career at a fortuitous moment: new mass-market magazines were flourishing, entering the homes of millions of American families. Rockwell sold more than three hundred covers to The Saturday Evening Post between 1916 and 1967, including The Connoisseur, which graced the cover of the magazine in 1962. Released 2010. Puzzle measures 20" x 25" when complete.

Through his warmhearted, sentimental, superbly wrought paintings, Rockwell told us stories of an idealized nation of small towns filled with kind, industrious people. In delivering a distillation of the way we wanted to see our country, his art reflected the currents of American life. By the 1940s Rockwell had become a living national treasure. Today his paintings are still widely admired, and his name is synonymous with a distinctly American era and way of life.

Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, our 1,000-piece interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers

Great puzzle (nice graphic, well cut pieces) but truly challenging. Creating the frame and the Connoisseur is a breeze, but filling in the painting is a slow process; We will finish it just for the pride of completing such a cool puzzle, but it feels more like work than play. It's like skiing a double black diamond.
