Beauvoir, an estate in Biloxi, Mississippi, was built in 1848. After the civil war, Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States of America, lived there from 1875 until his death in 1889.Beauvoir was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Outbuildings were destroyed, and there was much damage to the house. It has since been mostly restored, with work continuing as funds are available.
