Hello out there in puzzleland and welcome to another year of Jigsaw Junkies blogs!  I’m back from a long winter’s nap and excited to talk (or write) puzzles with y’all!  I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and a happy New Year!  I received a ton of fantastic new puzzles that I will be sure to hoard in my stash for at least 5 years. Do any of you glorious readers ever puzzle by season? I know of some people that like to pull out sunny, flowery puzzles for spring or warm, or comforting puzzles in hues of red and gold. Hello Jigsaw Junkies! I am so pleased to be back for a second year of representing the amazing Puzzle Warehouse! Last year, being an Ambassador for Puzzle Warehouse was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had in the world of puzzles so far, and I can’t believe I get to do it for a second year in a row! I am beyond excited, and hope you’ll join me for all of my nonsensical ramblings that I have planned for you this year! CONTINUE READING

Happy New Year Folks!!! Holiday season may be over for the non-puzzling crowd, but for us dissectologists (that’s a fancy way to say lover of jigsaw puzzles), it’s just begun. January is National Puzzle Month, and January 29th is National Puzzle Day! I put my dancing shoes away, pulled out the cozy socks, and got puzzling to start the celebration off. I also reached out to folks over on Instagram to ask them what their favorite parts of puzzling are, and got a great variety of responses. CONTINUE READING

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, one of the best things about puzzles is that they can be about anything! Think of this article as an addendum to my “What’s Your Favorite Puzzle Genre” post because we’re about to go down the rabbit hole that is…POP CULTURE PUZZLES! First off, what exactly is “pop culture”? Popular culture is the set of attitudes, behaviors, beliefs, and objects that is characteristic of a particular society at a given time. It can be broken down into different categories, such as media, entertainment, fashion, and sports. CONTINUE READING

Throughout December, I completed seven puzzle advent calendars. One of them was Gibsons, which has shaped puzzles. I had several messages on Instagram and TikTok asking how I did the shaped puzzles. So today I'm going to go through my shaped puzzle strategy for smaller piece count puzzles with Dejco Whale (150 pieces) and Madd Capp's I Am Lil' Bumble Bee. CONTINUE READING

Ever since I was a little girl, the few times my family would go out to eat Chinese food, I would be more excited about the green tea than the pu pu platter we always shared! In fact, during the 7 years I lived in England, people were always floored that “the Yank” didn’t want the proffered cup of coffee they assumed I’d want, but matched them cup for cup in the tea department (and believe me, Brits drink gallons of tea). CONTINUE READING

Looking for a good pop culture puzzle? Check out Aquarius! My most recent Aquarius puzzle featured the Star Trek Enterprise. I am a big Trekkie - with my personal favorite being Star Trek the Next Generation (it's about about Patrick Stewart's love of puzzles for me). But I have to clarify that the ship on this is from the OG Star Trek despite my small Picard collection making an appearance. CONTINUE READING

The Lunar New Year is the first day of the lunisolar calendar. It is celebrated on the new moon that appears between January 21st and February 20th. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, and South Korea all celebrate Lunar New Year with their own meaning and traditions. CONTINUE READING

Trefl has launched a line of wooden puzzles in 2022, and lots of the designs are available at Puzzle Warehouse! I’ve snatched up the cutest one, Colorful Puppy, with art by Dean Russo. This one, along with the majority of the line, are 500+1 piece, but there are a few 1000 designs as well. The packaging was a good sturdy cardboard box, nice and thick, and a pleasing square shape. The front features a full color image of the puzzle, and a sneak peek at some of the whimsy shapes included. CONTINUE READING
