Date Night-Game Night

According to MoneyGeek the average date night in America, for dinner and a movie, costs around $159. If you were to add flowers, a babysitter, drinks, or other stops for your date, we’re talking closer to $300 for a night with your significant other. While a night out is a nice treat, it can be an expensive item to factor into your budget.  One of me and my husband’s favorite date night ideas is Date Night – Game Night. We have always loved playing board, card & video games together. The concept for this date is simple. One of us picks out a couple games (could be ones we already own, or we may buy a new one). Then we add some snacks or pop in a frozen pizza and boom - we have a fun and inexpensive night in...CONTINUE READING

Oh-My-Art-Supplies

Hello puzzle lovers! I’m back with some beautiful colorful puzzles by some more of my favorite puzzle artists!  There is something about a collection of art supplies that grabs my eye. The gradients are just so satisfying to admire and to puzzle. And so I have found myself with a collection of art supplies puzzles to be envied. Most of the art supplies that are featured in this blog are available for purchase from the store, but some are older and I wanted to include them in the theme...CONTINUE READING

National-Puzzle-Day

As puzzlers, one of our favorite days of the year is National Puzzle Day. National Puzzle Day is on January 29th and boy do we have fun on that day! Puzzle companies have amazing deals and discounts, companies announce and introduce their new ambassadors, and my favorite part, all the different puzzle-alongs and events we do together as a community are an absolute blast...CONTINUE READING

Having-a-Laugh

Why did the chicken cross the road?

It’s a classic. The answer varies depending on who you ask, though my dad always told me, “to get to the other side!” Sounds like a dad joke, right? And, being a bit grayer on top, and having a few years under my belt (or slightly over my belt, as things now seem to settle in my midsection), dad jokes definitely tickle my funny bone like they never did in the past.

“Dad, will you make me a sandwich?”

“Abracadabra! You’re a sandwich!”

Oh man, I crack me up...CONTINUE READING

Ravensburger Wooden Puzzle Review

Today is all about Ravensburger- a tried and true puzzle brand. Probably THE puzzle brand that pops into people’s minds when puzzles are brought up. And for a very good reason too! With the influx of new puzzle brands Covid brought to us, you don’t have to look very far to find high quality puzzles with unique artwork anymore, but there is something about Ravensburger puzzles that just make them the GOAT. If I haven’t done a Ravensburger puzzle in a while, it’s just a sigh of relief when I finally do, like I’m returning home after a long hard day of work!...CONTINUE READING

Japan-in-Puzzles

I often think about traveling during the winter months, perhaps because I end up wrapped up in a blanket on my couch for most of the season. One of the places I’ve always wanted to visit is Japan. I had actually started to plan a trip for 2020 when current events made us pause our plans, and we haven’t quite been able to pick up where we left off. In the meantime, I know that puzzles have my back!...CONTINUE READING

The-Puzzle-Roll-Kerfuffle

In case you hadn’t noticed. There are a ton of puzzle mats, puzzle rolls, puzzle savers, and puzzle boards on the market and most of these terms will be used interchangeably throughout this blog. So, are they all really that different? Which one should you buy? Going beyond the obvious that, of course puzzle boards are different than the rolls and mats, I’m going to mostly focus on the mats and rolls.

Why’d I choose such a boring topic you ask? After all, there are an infinite number of gorgeous puzzles that I would be writing about. Well, let me explain exactly what made me decide to compare these puzzle rolls as I’m sure some of you may have the same problem...CONTINUE READING

Chinese-New-Year

If your New Year’s resolution was to spend plenty of time enjoying jigsaw puzzles, I hope your year is off to a great start! It’s always seemed strange to me that January, a month in the dead of winter--or summer, depending on which hemisphere you’re in—kicks off the “new” year. (We can thank the ancient Romans who moved the start of the year from March to January, the month named for Janus, the god of all beginnings.) In my humble opinion, the Lunar New Year--often called the Chinese New Year in the West—makes a lot more sense!...CONTINUE READING

Falling-in-Love-with-Josephine-Wall

Josephine Wall is one of my favorite puzzle artists. Her artwork is so enchanting and beautiful. She has had a passion for light and color, fantasy and visual storytelling since childhood. She uses acrylic paint to create her fantasy images and spends about 3 weeks on each piece. She is known for hiding images or faces within her artwork.

Buffalo Games does a wonderful job producing these images. The colors are rich and many of them have a fancy glitter finish! ...CONTINUE READING
