It started out innocently enough. Since we purchased our camper eight years ago, I’ve always considered it to be my guilt-free getaway. The place where I can indulge in all the books, art projects, long walks with the dogs and naps that I want, away from all the stuff I should be doing when I’m home. Now that we have a year-round spot along the river just 30 minutes away, I’ve dubbed the camper my Growlery, defined as “a place of refuge or sanctuary for use while one is out of sorts or in an ill humor.”...CONTINUE READING

Who could be bored with all the hobbies out there? I mean really, hobbies are what get me through the workday. They give me something to look forward to and I find it so relaxing when I can just sit down with no interruptions (most of the time) and partake in the hobbies I love. Being an introvert, I’m totally cool with hobbies that require little to no interaction. I must admit that I have a lot of hobbies that aren’t just puzzling, one of which is board games. The great thing about puzzles is that you can find artwork that goes with just about any hobby. It’s like layering multiple hobbies...CONTINUE READING

Hello fellow puzzlers! Tell me, what’s important to you when it comes to selecting a brand to purchase puzzles from? What keeps you coming back to a specific brand? One of the most important things to me as a puzzler, that I look for in a brand, is image versatility. I want variety. Lots of options. I want all my different puzzling moods to be satisfied at any given moment. Am I asking for too much? Maybe. But do you know who doesn’t think I’m asking for too much? Roseart. Roseart is one of those brands that has an image for just about every puzzler. Because Roseart caters to my needs, wants, and desires, I have decided to dedicate this month’s blog to them. Ladies and gentleman, today’s blog is a spotlight on one of my go to brands - Roseart. ..CONTINUE READING

As today is National Go Fishing Day, I thought I’d reel you in with puzzles that honor the fourth most popular participation sport in the country!
My husband and I are among the estimated 54.5 million recreational anglers in the US who love spending time out on the water. Fishing looms large in our story. On one of our first dates we went shad fishing together and a steelhead fishing trip to the Hoh Rain Forest in Washington state convinced my husband that he would not let me be the one that got away. We were up before dawn fishing in snow when I got caught getting out of the drift boat and fell in the water. He thought for sure the rest of the day would be ruined, but despite being soaking cold, he was amazed that I never carped once...CONTINUE READING

Hello there! Since last time we hung out, Mr. Ambassador’s mom passed away, and a lot of things I thought I would be doing at the time did not get done. For example: having a Mother’s Day that didn’t include sobbing into a bath towel or writing last month’s blog post. But somehow the days around us have moved into early summer and that peculiar zombiefog is blending into the more familiar zombiefog of busy ball schedules and mildly creative side projects...CONTINUE READING

It’s here, it’s here!!!! Summertime is just around the corner and can I say, I am SOOO excited! If you are new to my blogs, this was my first Washington winter after 10 years of living in Southern California. I knew moving up here was going to be an adjustment, but I thought, “eh I grew up in Maine, I’m used to the seasons.” However, I didn’t realize just how much it really does rain up here! I swear about 90% of our days since October have either been rainy, misty, overcast, or in a couple instances snowing. My lack of vitamin D is very apparent and I cannot be more excited for our dry sunny season to be upon us. I want to soak it all in!...CONTINUE READING

Confession time. I’m a little over 60 years old, and I’m still playing fantasy games. Apparently that's a bit of an anomaly. Statistics online say only 15 percent of gamers are over 55, which means I’m older than over 85% of other players. And, as the oldest participant in my Dungeons and Dragons group, I can’t disagree with the stats...CONTINUE READING

Why wine, you ask? Wine not! The earliest known traces of wine date back to 6000 BCE. It plays an important role in Judaism and Christianity, and is popular for alcoholic beverage to drink alone, enjoy with food, and even cook with. The United States is in the top 5 countries of the world in terms of tons produced, of which California produces nearly 85%. As a California native, I proudly present my blog on wine puzzles! As I also proudly sport my “Puzzles and wine make life fine” shirt, courtesy of Etsy. (Disclaimer: Please only consume alcohol if you are of legal drinking age. Do not drink to excess. Do not drink and drive. Definitely stay home and puzzle.)...CONTINUE READING

One of the movies I’ve seen hundreds of times and won’t ever tire of is Jurassic Park. Wearing out our VHS tape of this 90s staple instilled in me a love of dinosaurs, so this Dinosaur Day—June 1st—seems like a great time to puzzle some dinos!
There are so many dinosaur-themed puzzles on the market, and Puzzle Warehouse has more than 100 options currently in stock. One of my favorites is Dino Toys Come Alive with art by Jan Patrik Krasny in 1000 pieces from Anatolian....CONTINUE READING
