When I say princess, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it a Disney Princess like Cinderella, Aurora, or my favorite, Ariel? Or is it more royal like Princess Diana or Princess Kate Middleton? Or is your first thought Marwa - PuzzledPrincessDiaries on Instagram? Well, whether you think of me, Disney, or royalty, you are not wrong! We’re all princesses!
Although, through the magic of puzzles, I would like to dedicate this blog to not only Disney princesses because they continue to spread joy across the globe, but also to non-traditional types of princesses. A princess doesn’t have to wear a crown. She can be an athlete, a ballerina, or a princess gone villain. She can also be human, sea creature, white, black, or Asian! A princess doesn’t have to be one type of woman. She can be anything she wants to be! It’s here! It’s finally here! Spooky season has arrived and I could not be more excited! Halloween is a jumble of emotions for me. It terrifies me, and I hate all things scary… yet I wait for it with pure excitement every year. I don’t like dressing up, but I LOVE seeing everyone's costumes and I even help with makeup and with costume ideas… but I don’t partake in dressing up. I love trick or treating, but I don’t want to eat the candy. Ok, maybe that part isn’t true - give me ALL the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers bars please! I did start loving Halloween a bit more and engaged in the decorating and festivities when I had kids. Kids have a way of making things so much more special and magical. The way we listen to music has gone through revolutionary changes since music came into existence. We had 8-tracks, cassette tapes, compact discs, and today we enjoy the ease of music at our fingertips with digital downloads. (Shoutout to Napster for its profound impact on how we listen to music today!) Despite all of our various listening options, there is only one format that is still widely hailed by many music lovers as the “only way to listen to music” due to its optimum sound quality, and has withstood the test of time, like vinyl records have. Vinyl Records are SO superior that they have been bestowed their own national holiday! It’s National Superhero Day and I cannot begin to explain to you what a big deal that is in my household! As a boy mom, superheroes are a big thing around here. Lucky for my boys, I grew up LOVING superheroes like He-Man, Spider-Man, Superman, Transformers… but my truest love was Batman. My mind was blown when I watched the first Batman movie in the 80’s with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. On the spot I became a die-hard Batman fan, and it lives strong in me today. One of my favorite things to do when puzzling is theme puzzling. What is that you ask? Well, let me tell you! Theme puzzling is when you match the puzzle you are doing with whatever it is you are experiencing; whether its a Christmas puzzle during Christmas time, a spooky puzzle during Halloween, a movie themed puzzle while watching the Oscars, a Taylor Swift image while jamming to pop queen herself, or doing a football puzzle while watching the Super Bowl (Go Chiefs!).
