Forty miles easterly from the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, Forty Mile Point Lighthouse was built to allow mariners in the late 1800’s to be able to constantly see a light while sailing from the Straits of Mackinac to the Saint Clair River. The lighthouse now houses a museum, and a nicely furnished giftshop is just feet away. Many other lighthouse related structures are nearby on the grounds.
