Nurtured by the grandfather who provided his first art supplies and the grandmother who nourished his mind with stories, Alfredo Arregun is a painter whose art approaches poetry. Born in Michoacn, Mexico, Arregun made his way to Seattle in his twenties and has lived there since, creating a body of work built on influences as wide ranging as Mexican folk art and the misty shores of the Pacific Northwest. Arregun deftly pulls together his amalgam, whether in lush, mysterious junglescapes or his recurrent portraits of the inimitable Frida Kahlo. The works, in hot colours trestled by pattern, are visual feasts.
