Tall Pines Forest Jigsaw Puzzle

Wolf Kahn (American, b. Germany 1927)
Tall Pines, 1999

Given that Wolf Kahn works in nearly violent colors, his paintings are wonderfully tranquil; exercises in chromatic tension and formal movement, they are also sharply evocative of real-world landscapes. His paintings, such as Tall Pines, embody the synthesis of realism and the formal discipline of color field painting.

Kahn has received Fulbright and Guggenheim fellowships, and his works are in many collections, including those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

I am so pleased that there are artists like Wolf Kahn featured in puzzles. I am a big fan of his and this was a great find, and having a matte finish made it so much nicer to work with. I really like the Pomegranate brand.

Just finished this puzzle - wanted a challenge with so many trees being the majority of the space. Went easier than expected, but don't think it's for new puzzlers. Also, the colors are even brighter, prettier than in the picture on the box.

Pieces seemed a bit fragile. If I stuck a piece in the wrong place and tried to remove it, the end piece would fray a bit. Otherwise a beautiful puzzle.
