It is claimed that Taughannock Falls, a 215 drop, is the highest single drop waterfall east of the Rockies. It is located inside Taughannock Falls State Park. The base of the waterfall can be hiked to along a relatively level, wide 3/4 mile long trail from the parking lot. It’s an extremely popular waterfall. The trail runs along the shallow waterway that flows from the base of the waterfall, with families playing in the slow moving stream.
