I thought I'd reviewed this since I've told all my friends what an incredible disappointment this puzzle was. My husband has read the New Yorker for years and I'd been saving the puzzle for a weekend when we could work on it together. He gave up in an hour in frustration. I persevered but really shouldn't have. Probably felt like I didn't want to waste the $25. Pieces were bent and it was hard to tell if they actually fit. I don't mind misdirection in a puzzle. There might be colors or shapes that don't really fit where you think they should. But this one had at least 20 pieces that "acted like they fit" which to me isn't acceptable. We bought only one of the New York Puzzle Company puzzles as a test. They failed miserably which is a disappointment since I'd been looking forward to the Photo Ark and other of their products. I do 7-10 puzzles a week. This is the puzzle I most actively disliked of any I've done. I've had cheaper puzzles that I tossed, but this was bad on many levels--quality in particular. And solving it wasn't fun.
Very enjoyable to work on.
I love New Yorker puzzles.
We chose this to do on Christmas day 2020. My husband had not done a puzzle since he was a child and I hadn't done one in more than 20 years. This was the perfect puzzle with just enough variety to keep the build going and the blue sky challenged us more than expected. It was enough fun for us to order more New Yorker puzzles for the upcoming winter.
The New Yorker puzzles are always interesting. Original shapes. Enjoyable art
I received this as a puzzle of the month. While it isn't a puzzle I would normally have chosen, I went ahead and kept this selection and am so happy I did. It was a lot of fun to put together. The people and the card added interest and even putting together the ocean was an enjoyable challenge with the variations in the water. Thank your for a great puzzle of the month selection!
