Genius Games Anatomy Puzzles
Hi puzzle lovers! It’s me, Alyssa. I took some time away from blogging but I am back with a VERY special post.
I first stumbled upon Genius Games puzzles a few years ago. I really admired the initial collection of Dr Livingston Anatomy puzzles, which included anatomy of the abdomen, chest (Thorax) and head.
I promptly bought the abdomen. As an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, I do surgery within the abdomen so I am well acquainted with the anatomy, but I just love when puzzles are educational AND beautiful AND well made!
I noticed Eurographics had a few anatomy puzzles as well, (The Human Body, The Brain, The Heart, The Muscular system) but all the while I wondered to myself, when will we have an anatomy puzzle for the women’s reproductive system???
When I learned of the Kickstarter for the Pregnant Mother puzzle from Genius, I pledged so fast for my dream puzzle AND all the add ons. By late 2023 my collection of Dr Livingston Anatomy puzzles had multiplied, and I was ready to puzzle The Pregnant Mother in January of 2024.
The puzzle itself is quite large! It is 3 feet tall by 2 feet wide, so you should definitely take this into account before you start assembling! The pieces are smooth and matte, large and easy to handle. They fit together well, and the final image is a stunning (and accurate!) shaped puzzle!
The box has some information about the artist, Mesa Schumacher, who is a certified medical illustrator who has been in the field for over 10 years! There is a fact sheet enclosed with information above the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, and the full image, with important structures labeled.
For the blog, I also got the Dr Livingston Junior Human Brain Floor puzzle. This was truly every bit as delightful! Just 100 pieces but 5 times the actual size! As you can see in these pictures, it is HUGE and it fits nice and snug.
So thank you thank you, Genius games for publishing my dream puzzle!!! I got it professionally framed and have it displayed at my office. It means more to me than I can put into words. It is admired by many, I always get compliments on it!
As beautiful as it is, pregnancy is so physically and mentally challenging. I am truly fortunate to be able to support my patients through such an important stage of their lives.
What would I like to see next? More women’s health puzzles! Charts on hormones and menopause perhaps?!
As always, happy puzzling!
Sincerely,
Alyssa
This is so, so cool. The puzzles are beautiful and it's really neat how you combine two things that you're really good at and passionate about. Thank you for sharing!
