The Puzzles We're Reaching for This Summer
Summer puzzling looks a little different for me than the rest of the year. Living in Washington, I know the sunshine doesn't stick around forever, so when the warm weather finally arrives, I'm usually trying to soak up as much Vitamin D as possible. Between camping trips, weekend adventures, travel plans, and simply enjoying being outdoors, I tend to reach for puzzles that are a little lighter, brighter, and easier to fit into a busy summer schedule. While I still love a challenging puzzle, summer is when you'll often find me working on colorful 300 to 500 piece puzzle, or a cheerful 1000-piece puzzle. They're the kinds of puzzles I can finish over a weekend, take on a trip, or enjoy with family after a day spent outside.
To help inspire your next summer puzzle, I gathered some favorites from both myself and our Puzzle Warehouse ambassadors, along with a few puzzles that have recently caught my eye. Whether you're puzzling from a campsite, a cabin, a sunny patio, or the comfort of your air-conditioned living room, these are the puzzles we're excited about this season. These are just a few of our ambassadors' summer favorites. Lazy Days of Summer by MasterPieces | Artwork by Bonnie White
This is one of the puzzles I'm packing for my upcoming trip to Maine. When I travel, I love bringing puzzles that come in smaller boxes, and this 750-piece puzzle is the perfect size to toss in a suitcase. Bonnie White's folk art style has always been a favorite of mine, and the cozy Americana scene feels especially fitting for a summer spent with family. I also feel like 750 pieces is the perfect and often ignored piece count. I love that it isn't as much of a time commitment as 1000 pieces, but you get a bit more puzzling time than a 500 piece.
From children splashing in the river to horse-drawn carriages rolling through town, there's something charming to discover in every section of this puzzle. The bright colors and distinct details make it an enjoyable, relaxing build that's perfect for a summer afternoon. If you enjoy nostalgic small-town scenes and classic folk art, this is an easy one to recommend.
4th of July by MasterPieces | Artwork by Art Poulin
I can't do a summer puzzle picks blog without saying happy 250 years, America! This patriotic puzzle by Art Poulin captures the nostalgic spirit of Independence Day with a classic small-town celebration scene. I'm always a sucker for hot air balloons, and this one feels like it will be so much fun to work on as we head into the holiday festivities.I love the words, small Statue of Liberty and the fireworks long so fun to put together! I usually only do one patriotic puzzle a year, and this one is officially on the docket
Low Tide by White Mountain | Artwork by Tracy Flickinger
This summer pick comes from Puzzle Warehouse Ambassador Tina, who completed this coastal scene while enjoying a beautiful day on Cape Cod. As she shared, after a walk along the sand flats, she came back to the deck and finished the puzzle with Chris. According to Tina, it definitely passed the puzzle pickup test—she just wasn't willing to risk it with the wind gusts!
White Mountain is one of my go-to brands for fun summertime scenes. If you enjoy larger-piece puzzles, they're a fantastic choice. The slightly larger pieces make for a comfortable puzzling experience, especially if you have friends or family joining in. Plus, the extra piece size gives everyone a little more room to work. As for this image, I know exactly where I'd start: those brightly colored beach chairs are calling my name!
Call of the Coast by Gibsons | Artwork by Abby Jacobs
Another great pick from Tina, who brought this charming set along on her work vacation to Cape Cod. Featuring three separate 500-piece puzzles, each image is filled with coastal charm, colorful flowers, and delightful details. Tina completed one at home and packed the other two for her trip, sharing that she and Chris found them relaxing, cozy, and enjoyable to work on together.
I think this is such a fun giftable puzzle set for summer. With three different images included, you can easily finish one and jump right into the next. The bright coastal artwork feels cheerful and inviting, making it perfect for a weekend of puzzling. And while any puzzle is fun, there's just something special about working on one outside on a beautiful summer day.

La Croisée des Chemins by Nathan | 500 Pieces
This colorful puzzle recently caught my eye after Puzzle Warehouse Ambassador Tammy shared her completed puzzle. Her review was simple: "If you love color sorting, this is bliss!" Looking at all those vibrant rainbow sections, I can definitely see why. This one is currently sitting on my wishlist and looks like an absolute joy for anyone who loves working with bold colors. While not everyone is interested in speed puzzling, colorful puzzles like this can be a great way to practice sorting by color and improve your puzzling skills while having fun. Plus, it's hard not to smile when you're working with this many bright colors.
Nathan is a Ravensburger brand, and if you enjoy the quality of Ravensburger's blue board and clean grid cut, they're a fantastic option to explore. Their catalog offers many unique European images that you don't often see elsewhere.
Miss Sunshine by GoodWay Puzzles | Artwork by Dawn Allen
If we're talking about summer puzzles, I have to include one of my all-time favorites: Miss Sunshine. This 300-piece puzzle was such a joy to complete that I actually did it twice. In fact, I loved the artwork so much that I had the finished puzzle professionally preserved so I could display it in my kitchen.
I'm usually not someone who gravitates toward fine art or heavily brush-stroked puzzle images, but this one completely won me over. The sunflowers, the mermaid, the bright colors, and the cheerful summer vibe all came together beautifully. There was just enough of each section to keep things interesting without ever feeling repetitive or frustrating. It was relaxing, colorful, and simply fun from start to finish.
If you fall in love with Dawn Allen's artwork like I did, you'll be happy to know she has an entire collection of mermaid-inspired puzzles with a similar whimsical style. Every one I've seen has been absolutely beautiful.
Crazy Pool Day by Eurographics | 300 Pieces
Puzzle Warehouse Ambassador Jennifer selected Crazy Pool Day as one of her favorite summer picks, and it's easy to see why. This playful 3D lenticular puzzle is packed with silly animal antics and colorful summer fun. The image practically jumps off the table, making it a unique puzzling experience that's sure to get a few laughs along the way.
Lenticular puzzles can be a little trippy at first, but that's part of the fun! The changing image effect adds an extra challenge compared to a traditional puzzle, while the 300-piece count keeps it approachable for puzzlers of all ages. If you're looking for something to do with kids, grandkids, or anyone who enjoys a good laugh, this one is a great choice.
Early Morning Fishing by Eurographics | Artwork by Dominic Davison
This is one of my personal summer favorites because nothing says summer quite like a beautiful sunrise puzzle. Dominic Davison has a talent for creating the most stunning skies, and this image is no exception. Between the warm morning light reflecting on the water and the peaceful lakeside setting, it's the kind of scene that immediately makes me want to slow down and relax.
I've actually completed this puzzle more than once, which is always a good sign. I love the quiet morning atmosphere, the cozy cabin, and the little hints of summertime woven throughout the image. The canoe waiting by the shore and the fishing scene make it feel like the perfect start to a summer day. Honestly, every time I see this puzzle, I find myself wishing I was sitting on that porch with a cup of coffee or tea, watching the sunrise and listening to the water. If you're looking for a relaxing summer puzzle with gorgeous colors and a peaceful vibe, this one is hard to beat.

I know I'd love working on this one. The colors are beautiful, the image feels warm and inviting, and at 300 pieces it's perfect for a relaxing summer afternoon. Plus if you know me, than you'd know I have three orange fur babies!
The Old Filling Station by MasterPieces | Artwork by Art Poulin
Another customer favorite that continues to find its way into puzzlers' homes is The Old Filling Station. Artwork by Art Poulin has a way of capturing nostalgic Americana, and this scene is no exception.
