6 Reasons Why You Should Go to Puzzle Palooza – Even If You’re Not a Speed Puzzler

I’ve worked with Puzzle Warehouse for a while now, but I’ve never actually visited in person — until now. This July, I’m finally heading to Puzzle Palooza, and yes, I’m bringing an extra suitcase because you know I’m going to shop the warehouse like a kid in a candy store.

As someone who’s competed at Nationals in San Diego and D.C., and even the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship last year, I know what intense puzzling feels like. But some of my all-time favorite events have been the low-stakes, local ones — no cameras, no pressure, just puzzle people having fun. That’s exactly the vibe we’re going for at Puzzle Palooza.

If you’ve been thinking about coming but feel unsure because you’re “not a fast puzzler,” let me reassure you: this weekend is about way more than competition. Here’s why you should totally come:

6 Reasons to Go to Puzzle Palooza (Even If You’re Not a Speed Puzzler)

  1. The Warehouse Is a Puzzle Wonderland
Puzzle Warehouse is the largest puzzle store in the U.S., and it's rarely open to the public. This is your golden opportunity to shop the aisles, browse thousands of puzzles in person, and stock up — hence the extra suitcase I’m bringing.
  2. You’ll Puzzle a Bunch of Top-Selling Brands
Each speed event is sponsored by a different puzzle brand, which means you’ll get to experience a wide variety of puzzle styles and designs. It’s a great way to try brands you may not have picked up before — and the best part? Ravensburger, Vermont Christmas Company, Eurographics and more! Oh and did I mention, You get to keep the puzzle you complete?!
  3. You’ll Get Free Stuff and Fun Perks
Your ticket includes a swag bag, raffles throughout the event, and you can even vote on a future puzzle image.
  4. Try Puzzle Chess – It’s Free and Hilarious
I’ve done Puzzle Chess a few times and it’s honestly a blast. It’s free to join, super creative, and guaranteed to get you laughing. Even if you’re not puzzling at lightning speed, you’ll still be part of the action. Make sure to sign up for your spot as spaces are limited. Learn the Puzzle Chess Rules!
  5. The Family Fun Event is Super Relaxed
For just $20 per table, families can enjoy a kid-friendly puzzle session with zero pressure. It’s a great way to introduce kids to puzzling in a fun, welcoming environment.
  6. You’ll Find Your People

Last year's Puzzla Palooza's team competition.

Whether you're a seasoned puzzler or brand new to the hobby, this is a great place to meet others who just get it. It’s easy to connect when you share a love of puzzles — and who knows, you might leave with new friends and new techniques to try at home. When I moved to Washington, I had zero friends in the area. But after attending a few puzzle events, I started meeting other puzzlers — and before long, I had a whole group of puzzle-loving friends. Not only has it built a sense of community, but I’ve learned so much just by talking with other people. Everyone has different strategies, and it’s so easy to strike up a conversation when you already have something in common.

Whether you're a longtime puzzler or just curious what a puzzle event even looks like, this is the one to check out. I'll be there (fully prepared to puzzle and shop), and I truly hope to see you there too! Make sure to sign up using the link and I'll see you there!

This sounds like so much fun! I’m sure I can’t swing it this year. But if this is an annual event it’s something to plan for next year!
