Artist Spotlight - Olivia Gibbs
The older I get, the more I come to embrace cozy vibes, no matter the season. One puzzle artist that really captures that warm, inviting, and usually cozy atmosphere is Olivia Gibbs. I realized one day that I have quite a few puzzles with her artwork from several different brands, and, let’s be honest, I will absolutely be getting more!
Boho Camper in 1000 pieces from Magnolia has pretty much everything I love in Olivia Gibbs’ artwork: great colors, distinct patterns, and warm vibes! And of course Magnolia has really nice pieces, so this puzzle is the best of everything for me. There are so many fun details in this puzzle, and I would jump into this scene if I could! On her website, Oliva says she enjoys nature, hiking, and travel, and that really comes through in this puzzle. Another puzzle that embraces these themes is Go Camping in 500 pieces from Ceaco.
Again with those gorgeous colors and patterns!! Olivia says on her website that she is a self-taught artist, originally from Spain and now living in the United States. She states that she wasn’t sure she could make a living with her artwork, but after her second child was born, she decided to forgo her job in banking and give it a shot. Now her artwork is on a variety of products, including puzzles from many different brands, and I just can’t get enough!
Those bright colors and distinct patterns that I keep mentioning are often where I start when building puzzles with art by Olivia Gibbs. For Serenity Meow in 1000 pieces from Galison, I began with the cute patterns on the pillows and blankets. Whether it’s pillows, rugs, awnings, or textures on buildings, the interesting patterns are really a puzzler’s delight. This one particularly captured those cozy vibes that I love so much, and I’d love to pull up a spot on the couch!
Two more super cozy puzzles are Relaxing Nook and Cozy Fireplace, both in 500 pieces in the Hygge line from Karmin International, and they even come with a scented candle! I’ve been waiting for these to restock because I just love them so much! (Look at those cute socks!)
Olivia Gibbs works with a variety of puzzle brands, and I personally think this is a good thing. Different companies tend to choose different kinds of images, which means there is a great variety of images, piece counts, and price points to choose from. Ceaco also carries quite a few of her images in 300-piece puzzles, each as delightful as the next!
These are Sea Town Harbor, Farm Life, and Ukraine. I thought that Sea Town Harbor was particularly delightful! I enjoy puzzling facades of buildings, and combine that with the colorful boats and happy seagulls and I’m a happy camper!! I loved all the fun animals in Farm Life, and the colorful buildings in Ukraine. Ceaco also carries a few 200-piece puzzles with her artwork, including Cute Coop and Mini Mermaids.
There’s just something about the warm, inviting colors and cozy vibes that keep me coming back for more, and the interesting patterns and colors make for very sortable and fun puzzles. Have you done any puzzles with art by Olivia Gibbs? In writing this post, I’ve discovered a few more to add to my wishlist!
