another great puzzle that will remind my brother of our growing up years. Yes, we go back to the 1940's and our father still used horses for some of the farm work. (He also had a new john Deere tractor), but horses were best for some jobs; one I remember was for pulling a wagon and going through the oat fields where the grain had been cut, bundled and put into "shocks". the bundles of oats were thrown into the wagon and taken to the "threshing machine" where the oats were separated from the "straw". One worker could do this. Using a tractor with so many starts ans stops would have required two workers. Several farmers worked together on this project, going from farm to farm as a group. The Combine made this obsolete!
