The canyon which gives Canyon Falls its name is also known as Michigan’s Grand Canyon and is an excellent example of a box canyon. The vertical walled canyon, through which the Sturgeon River flows after pouring over Canyon Falls, is a favored hike and is part of the North Country Trail.
