The Tahquamenon River pours over the upper falls between Paradise and Newberry, MI and then after several miles of smooth running the river separates around a rocky island and drops over a number of waterfalls on both sides of the island. These drops make up the lower falls. The island is accessible by rowboat (for a fee) and provides lovely looks at all the waterfalls in this stretch of the river.
