Tawas Point Lighthouse, located at the end of a narrow strip of land that forms the eastern side of Tawas Bay in Lake Huron, is a favorite location for lighthouse enthusiasts and bird watchers. Sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular. In fact, this shot was taken during a memorable June sunset. The lighthouse has been in operation since 1876 and is now part of Tawas Point State Park. There is a museum and gift shop on the grounds that are open seasonally.
