How Jigsaw Puzzles Were Invented
John Spilsbury, an engraver and map maker was deemed with the invention in the 18th century. However, the history of jigsaw puzzles is quite extensive, so we'll try to keep it short! The idea began with Mr.Splilsbury, a man of many talents and trades, taking one of his maps and tracing the countries onto a piece of wood, he was then able to cut them out and use them as puzzle pieces. It's also worth noting that the invention came out of goodwill, as he created the first puzzles to be used by children so they could learn map reading skills. We're honored to keep his generous invention going to this day with a variety of children's games and toys!
