Picking the Right Puzzle Difficulty for You
Like any mental exercise, choosing the right puzzle difficulty is important to getting the most from your experience. Choosing a puzzle that's too difficult can convince a beginner puzzler to give up and never learn how much fun puzzles can be, while picking one that isn't challenging enough for an experienced puzzler means they'll blow through it in minutes and feel unfulfilled when finished.

Choosing the right puzzle means you'll have an enjoyable and engaging experience from beginning to end. When you finish putting it together, working on a challenging puzzle gives you a genuine sense of accomplishment.

Easy and Beginner Puzzles
If you're new to puzzles or want to indulge in a family activity that includes younger children, choose easy puzzles. They usually feature around 300 pieces or less, with simpler designs and cuts that make it relatively easy to figure out what goes where. Puzzles for toddlers and young children have a small number of large pieces, while other beginner puzzles feature up to 500 pieces. Looking for an age-appropriate beginner option? Intermediate and Difficult Puzzles
Intermediate puzzles are best for somewhat experienced puzzlers who've mastered a few easy ones and need something more challenging. For those looking for an intermediate-level challenge, we recommend puzzles with over 1,000 pieces.

Difficult puzzles may increase the piece count to 2,000 or more and introduce jagged, bizarre cuts to the pieces. The designs might be more intricate and detailed, requiring careful examination of multiple seemingly identical pieces to find the right one. These puzzles offer a good challenge.

Impossible Puzzles
While these puzzles aren't technically impossible, they're only for the highest-level puzzlers. These challenge the puzzler's mind for days due to their difficulty. They include strange patterns, pieces all the same color and piece counts over 3,000 pieces, making examining hundreds of seemingly identical pieces necessary to find the right fit.

These puzzles offer some of the most challenging experiences of any mental activity, but once you complete them, you'll feel a real sense of accomplishment.
