Where Are Jigsaw Puzzles From
Jigsaws are from all around the world as of modern-day, but jigsaw puzzles originated and were invented in London. John Spilsbury, a European mapmaker and engraver is credited with the invention in 1767, but that was only the begging of jigsaw puzzles as they've only grown in popularity and demand ever since. By the 18th century, puzzles were being produced by many different manufacturers in various countries because the general public couldn't get enough of them. This led to puzzles being produced in bulk and being cut by a jigsaw to reduce time and resources as the first puzzles were cut by hand out of wood with images adhered to the pieces, proving to be a rather long and detailed process!
