Ahalya seeks blessing from Rama after being freed from her curse. Guru Vishwamitra and Lakshmana are standing alongside Rama.
Ahalya, a woman of immeasurable beauty and character, was turned into a stone, on being cursed by her husband, sage Gautama. Several years later, Rama and Lakshmana along with sage Vishwamitra, visited the hermitage of sage Gautama, while on their way to Mithlapuri. Rama touched the stone with his foot and the curse on Ahalya is reversed. Rama blesses Ahalya and thus came to be known as ‘Patit Paavan’- the Lord who sanctified the sinner.
