I chose this puzzle as a striking alternative to the gazillions of variations on the small number of themes that dominate the current puzzle market. It is all of that but in working on the puzzle I realized it's a lot more. The artist, Ivaylo Ivanov, obviously started with a symmetrical framework but when it came to filling in the details he rarely, if ever, copied what was on one side to the other. His execution from the level of large scale features to fine detail is remarkable. This made the puzzle more challenging and enjoyable than I expected it to be. The devil is really in the details for this one. The pieces are thin but sturdy and fit together well so picking up and moving sections is easy to do. If the image doesn't turn you off and you enjoy fine detail puzzle solving, Dark Witch is worth considering.
