Dennis Lewan (b. 1948) was a smalltown boy from Wisconsin that grew up to study architecture in Chicago. He briefly spent time with a career in music playing in Hugh Heffner’s clubs. His diverse background may be surprising because his artistic style is very traditional. Large self-taught, he studied the Old Masters in museums in his extensive travels. His art depicts in soft colors the nostalgic lifestyle of the 18th and 19th centuries with his most popular subjects being English manor houses, cottages, village streets, and quaint neighborhoods.
