In 1871, Thomas Moran accompanied a survey party in Montana’s Yellowstone region led by Dr. Ferdinand V. Hayden for the United States Geological Survey. The survey was an exciting adventure and an important scientific project. The group traveled through the region on horseback, and Moran often had only a brief period of time to capture his impressions of a site in a quick pencil sketch. When they returned to camp, he would add a small amount of color to his sketches. Moran’s watercolors and paintings were instrumental in convincing Congress to establish Yellowstone as the first national park of the United States in 1872. Thirty years after his first trip to Yellowstone, Moran completed his painting The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, which, with dimensions of roughly eight by fourteen feet, was among the grandest works of his career.

Very good high-quality puzzle, even the box is thick high-quality cardboard. Very difficult to put together, a real challenge. Nice picture when done.
A beautiful and very difficult puzzle. Once you've done the sky and the water, you're in for a challenge. Like all Pomegranate products, a high quality puzzle.
I bought this puzzle for my Dad's 77th birthday. We went to Yellowstone some 40 years ago and I just wanted to bring back some of those memories. It's hard to find puzzles like that in the stores.. Thank you .
This is a gorgeous puzzle and high quality as always.
This is the most challenging and beautiful puzzle I have ever completed! I picked this one up in Yellowstone, and have been buying the Pomegranate brand since then. The high quality will spoil you. They use thick cardboard and non-glare finishes so you are not constantly dodging the glare from lamps or windows. I love the excellent selection and fast delivery from the Puzzle Warehouse!
