My collection is titled “The Breaking”.  In this collection, I’ve explored the themes of heartbreak and disappointment as it relates to the female experience of betrayal. I have layered vibrant abstract backgrounds with bold figures and portraits to reflect the chaos and paradox of emotions and thoughts that swirl through our beings as we experience such a life changing event.  The raw marks and unfinished style of the drawings mirror the raw states of our hearts when we experience hard things.  Things change us.  We have such little control over what happens to us, but we have all the power in the world to determine how those things shape us.  Madeline Barry - Artist 

This piece is about the sacred moment we have when overwhelm begins to set in. When it seems things are spiraling out of our control, there is a split second of choice. Not always do we realize we have this choice, but when we do, I’ve found that breath is extremely powerful. It can ward off a panic attack, it can allow us a moment of calm before the chaos overwhelms us. 

This piece is an invitation to prioritize breath in the midst of pain, and allow your body to fill with the air, and the hope, around you.
