Show Me MoreBased on the last several Piatnik purchases I've made, I would conclude that the company is shifting most of its puzzle production out of Austria and into the Netherlands and Poland. The new locations, which I assume provide cheaper labor, are sadly not producing products of the same quality that I had come to enjoy from Piatnik's Vienna-made puzzles (those awful perforation tabs on the borders notwithstanding). This puzzle provided an excellent image to keep me busy over a few weeks; it is very much a one-piece-by-one-piece puzzle. However, the enjoyment of working on it is lessened by the diminished quality, which features a waxy finish to the tops of the pieces, shallower ink depth and less color resolution, less heft, and more sharply cut pieces vs. the smooth, solid, looser, and generally higher-quality Austrian pieces. I hope that Piatnik will not completely abandon its Austrian puzzles; I also wish that Puzzle Warehouse would provide country of origin labels and/or photos so that customers can make better purchasing decisions.
